Investments: over $1bn in capital commitments for the American asset management firm Avenue Sports Fund

Avenue Capital Group has closed "with over $1bn (€852m) of capital commitments" for its sports-focused Avenue Sports Fund, announced the US global asset management firm on 29/09/2025.

Launched in November 2023, the fund focuses "focuses on investment opportunities providing debt and equity capital to a wide variety of sports teams, leagues and sports-adjacent businesses across established leagues, emerging leagues and women's sports," said Avenue Capital Group, co-founded and led by CEO Marc Lasry, former co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA).

Avenue Sports Fund has already made a number of investments in North America and Europe: The Bay Golf Club (competing in the new golf league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy), Trackhouse Entertainment Group (motor sports), Cosm (immersive technologies), Ipswich Town Football Club (Sky Bet Championship), Mercury 13 (holding company for women's football clubs), and PGA Tour Enterprises (commercial arm of the PGA Tour).
