"The Premier League is trying to become the flagship product in Europe, even ahead of the Champions League. I'm usually against regulations, but I think we have to fight for this (the introduction of a salary cap at an international level)," said Fernando Carro de Prada, CEO of Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Bundesliga), at the "Future of Finance Bloomberg" event organised by the American financial media company in Frankfurt (Germany) on 26/09/2025.

Fernando Carro previously lamented the Premier League's economic dominance in 2021: "We tried to buy a player in the summer and in the end a promoted side from the Premier League was able to pay more money and a higher salary than us, a top four side in Germany. The Premier League has so much more money and resources than any other country. This is not good for us," said the Carro de Prada, who is also an ECA board member, at the time.
