UEFA: 161,300 young players have benefited from the Playmakers programme since its launch in 2020

161,300 young players have benefited from UEFA's Playmakers programme since its launch in 2020, according to the European confederation on 30/09/2025, following an event dedicated to the initiative held at its headquarters in Nyon (SUI) from 22 to 24/09. Initially tested by seven member associations in a pilot phase, the scheme is now being rolled out in 46 countries.

The programme, aimed at girls aged 5 to 8, gives them "a fun and safe introduction to football through movement, play and the magic of Disney storytelling," explained UEFA. Among the programme's key figures, 91% of participants wish to continue playing football, according to the body.

The event from 22 to 24/09 was organised in the presence of representatives of The Walt Disney Company, partner of the programme, as well as several other confederations (Concacaf, AFC, CONMEBOL), and included "interactive sessions, panel discussions and group exercises designed to reflect the fun and energetic nature of Playmakers."
