Discovery: turnover of $1.54bn (€1.43bn) in Q1 2015, up 9%

Discovery Communications recorded a turnover of $1.54bn (€1.43bn) in the first quarter of 2015, which ended on 31/03/2015, an increase of 9% compared to the first quarter of 2014 (1.41bn, €1.03bn), announced the American audiovisual conglomerate on 05/05/2015.

Excluding currency exchange effects, since the acquisition of a 60% stake by the Discovery Family, effective in October 2014, in Eurosport in May 2014 (completed on 31/03/2015), the turnover increased by 6%. Net income for Discovery Communications in Q1 was $250m (€232.5m) on 31/03/2015, an increase of 9% year on year ($230m, €168m).

American TV channels

  • The turnover generated by the North American TV channels of Discovery Communications reached $749m (€696.6m), up 6% year on year.

International TV channels

  • The turnover generated by the group's channels abroad reached $735m (€683.6m), up 10% year on year.
    • Distribution revenue: $396m (€368.3m), up 17%.
    • Advertising revenue: $312m (€290m), down 1%.
