2026 World Cup Volunteer Programme: over one million applicants for 65,000 positions

More than one million people have expressed an interest in volunteering for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada from 11/06 to 19/07/2026, announced FIFA on 07/10/2025, three days before the registration deadline of 10/10/2025.

"A record-breaking number of applicants have applied for volunteer roles at the FIFA World Cup 26 more than for any other event in sporting history. The breathtaking figure highlights the local, national and global appeal of the world's biggest and best-ever football tournament. Some 65,000 volunteers are set to be assigned roles throughout the competition," said the International Federation.

"Volunteers are the heart, soul and smile of FIFA tournaments. They get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime, while supporting a historic event," said Gianni Infantino (ITA/SUI), president of FIFA.
