Germany: an expert group on the sporting future of German football set up by the DFL

"With a new expert group, the DFL is bringing together the expertise of clubs, the league, the DFB and external specialists to discuss the course for a successful sporting future for German professional football in a timely and intensive manner," announced the Deutsche Fußball Liga on 16/10/2025.

"The aim is to develop future priorities for football development and an initial package of measures," added the DFL. "The expert group will deal with topics such as the training and integration of young talent and the further development of club standards and structures. Initial results are to be discussed in the league committees in spring 2026 and then with all 36 clubs."

The group, which has been set up with several DFL committees and bodies, as well as the DFB, includes:
• Sebastien Zelichowski, DFL Director of Football Development, and Daniel Feld, DFL Head of Performance Centres, as coordinators ;
• Andreas Bornemann (FC St. Pauli), Joti Chatzialexiou (1. FC Nuremberg) and Markus Krösche (Eintracht Frankfurt) as representatives of the DFL Football Committee;
