Tennis: a new name & identity for the ITF, which will become "World Tennis" from 2026 onwards

The International Tennis Federation will change its name to "World Tennis" from 01/01/2026, following "an overwhelming majority vote" by its 213 national member associations, announced the ITF at its annual general meeting on 16/10/2025.

Founded as the International Lawn Tennis Federation in 1913, it became the International Tennis Federation in 1977. The new World Tennis brand will be launched "in summer 2026 as part of a phased rollout plan," said the ITF.

"The change will provide a clearer identity that is more relevant to players, fans, partners and tennis stakeholders around the world, and brings the brand in line with a majority of sport’s most prominent global governing bodies," added the Federation.

Several international bodies deploy an identity similar to World Tennis, such as World Aquatics (swimming, since 2022), World Athletics (athletics, since 2019) and World Rugby (since 2014).
