NBA: nearly 800 million followers on the social networks of the league & its 30 franchises in 2025-26

The National Basketball Association and the 30 franchises taking part in the North American basketball championship have a combined total of 795.3 million followers on Meta group's social networks (Facebook, Instagram & Threads), as well as on X, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat (215 accounts), according to figures compiled by News Tank for the start of the 2025-26 NBA season on 21/10/2025.

On a like-for-like basis - the Snapchat and Threads account readings were not taken into account in October 2024 - the total (746.4 million without the two platforms) is up 2.7% compared with the start of the 2024-25 season on 23/10/2024. Between 2023-24 and 2024-25, the increase was 6%.

The League's official accounts have 252.3 million followers, with nearly 36% of followers coming from Instagram.

The 30 North American franchises have a combined total of 543 million followers, up 2.4% (excluding Threads and Snapchat). Indiana Pacers, finalists in 2024-25, recorded the largest increase (in relative terms), with 14.2% more fans, and posted the best growth on Instagram, Facebook and X, as well as the…
