Stade Brestois 29: Arkéa Park stadium project suspended by the Rennes Administrative Court

The enforcement of the order dated 23/06/2025 allowing the developers of Arkéa Park, the future home of Stade Brestois 29 (Ligue 1 McDonald's), "to harm certain protected animal species and their habitats" in the course of the construction work, has been suspended by a decision of the Rennes Administrative Court on 22/10/2025.

The case had been brought before the court by three environmental protection associations. "In view of the evidence submitted to him, the judge hearing the application for interim relief considered that there was insufficient justification that the planned sports facility met the criterion of being in the overriding public interest (IROPI), a criterion set by the legislator for derogations from the prohibitions aimed at ensuring the conservation of non-domestic animal species and their habitats" identified on the construction site in Guipavas (Finistère), stated the court.

The Arkéa Park project was recognised by the City of Brest as a project of general interest, in accordance with the urban planning code, on 17/12/2024, but this legal status does not…
