Piracy: Lega Serie A, Premier League & LALIGA among the 34 signatories of a letter sent to the EU

34 entities, including the Lega Serie A, Premier League and LALIGA, have signed a letter addressed to Henna Virkkunen (executive vice-president of the European Commission) and Glenn Micallef (European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport) "to express their deep concern about the impact of illegal streaming of live content on their activities, consumers and the economy," announced the Lega Serie A on 22/10/2025.

The signatories demand "the adoption of legislative measures in line with previous commitments made by the European Commission, which have been repeatedly supported by the European Parliament, including in its report on the role of EU policies in shaping the European sport model on 07/10," explained the Italian league.

Among the requests made:
• The removal of illegal content as quickly as possible and within a maximum of 30 minutes of receipt of a report;
• The establishment of "real-time dynamic blocking orders available in all Member States at EU level (including IP address blocking) covering mirror sites and subsequent domains";
