Sports betting: Banijay Group (Betclic) to acquire a majority stake in operator Tipico (Admiral, GER/AUT)

Banijay Group, a French company specialised in the production and distribution of content and live experiences (via Banijay Entertainment & Live) as well as online sports betting and gambling (via Banijay Gaming), is to acquire the majority stake held by Luxembourg-based fund CVC Capital Partners in Tipico Group, "the leading sports betting and online gaming provider in Germany and Austria," announced the parties on 28/10/2025. The transaction is expected to be finalised in mid-2026.

Banijay Group (formerly FL Entertainment) will merge Betclic and Tipico - which has owned Austrian bookmaker Admiral since 2025 - into a single subsidiary, Banijay Gaming, in order to create "a European champion in sports betting and online gaming," according to the company founded by Stéphane Courbit.

Specifically, Banijay Group will acquire "the major stake of CVC in Tipico in cash, and all shareholders of Betclic and Tipico, including the respective founders, will become shareholders of the combined entity.
