European Super League: "UEFA can no longer ignore binding court decisions" (Bernd Reichart, A22)

"After years of legal proceedings, UEFA can no longer ignore binding court decisions. By abusing their monopoly and preventing new initiatives, they have caused substantial damages to numerous clubs, players, and other stakeholders across Europe," said Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22 Sports Management, on 29/10/2025.

The German executive was reacting to the decision taken on the same day by the Provincial Court of Madrid (ESP) which, on appeal, found that UEFA had "abused its dominant position" by attempting to prevent the creation of an alternative European competition in 2021, the European Super League project launched on 18/04/2021 by the company A22 Sports Management with the support of 12 major European clubs (6 English, 3 Spanish and 3 Italian).

A22 Sports Management had sent "a proposal to UEFA and FIFA to obtain official recognition for its new cross-border European club football competition", renamed "Unify League" according to the Madrid-based company, responsible for organising and promoting the European Super League project, on 17/12/2024.
