Women's football: Monarch Collective make first investment outside USA in Viktoria Berlin (German D2)

The American women's sports fund Monarch Collective has made its first investment outside the United States by acquiring a stake in FC Viktoria Berlin (2. Frauen-Bundesliga), announced the two parties on 05/11/2025.

The deal, the first by a specialist sports investor in German professional women's football, involves the fund "gradually" acquiring up to 38% of the club's capital. The so-called 50+1 rule (which gives the association the majority of voting rights, 50% + 1 vote) "remains the basis of the agreement and ensures democratic co-determination. The existing network of investors and the founding team remain on board. Transparent governance structures and a charter of values ensure sustainable growth and integrity."

Founded in 2023 by Kara Nortman (co-founder of Angel City FC, NWSL) and Jasmine Robinson, Monarch Collective, a female-led investment platform, has approximately $250m (€218m) under management and already holds stakes in the Angel City (Los Angeles), San Diego Wave (San Diego) and Boston Legacy (Boston, which will join the league in 2026) NWSL franchises.
