TV rights: global market to be valued at $78.1bn in 2030 & at $36bn in North America (Ampere Analysis)

The global sports media rights market will be worth $78.1bn (€67.6bn) in 2030, $13.1bn (€11.3bn) more than in 2025, according to a study by British market research firm Ampere Analysis published on 25/11/2025.

Of this $78.1bn, $38bn (€33bn) will come from North America and $21.2bn (€18.3bn) from Europe. "The US will continue to drive global growth, with the new NBA rights cycle starting in the 2025-26 season, alongside new MLB deals from 2029. Further upside could come if the NFL renegotiates its current agreements. Although many existing deals run until 2034, the League believes its rights are undervalued, and Ampere expects initial discussions to start as early as 2026," explained the firm.

The NBA's new domestic rights deal with ESPN, NBCUniversal and Amazon is valued at $76bn over the 2025-2036 cycle (11 seasons), or $7bn (€6.45bn) per season. The NFL's domestic TV rights (with Amazon, Disney, CBS, Fox Sports and NBC) are valued at $105bn (€88bn) for the 2023-2033 cycle (11 seasons), or $9.5bn (€7.97bn) per year.
