Transfers: a resolution adopted by EFC, European Leagues, FIFPRO and UEFA to reform of the system

"The recognised European social partners in professional football - European Football Clubs and European Leagues, representing employers, and FIFPRO Europe, representing employees - and UEFA as chair, have issued a joint resolution on the key principles of the football transfer system and its reform, following a formal process of social dialogue," said the bodies on 01/12/2025.

This process (resolution available to download) was been conducted following the October 2024 “Diarra” judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) which challenged some of the key provisions of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) that required adjustments to ensure compliance with EU law.
