FIFA: Luis Figo denies claims that he intends to withdraw his candidacy for the presidency of FIFA

"We will remind you what we have said from day one. Luis Figo is an independent candidate and will keep being independent. He will not travel to the Netherlands and won’t participate in any press conference, contrary to what the rumours say," said a spokesman for Luis Figo (POR), a candidate for the presidency of FIFA, on 20/05/2015.

The Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant reported on 20/05/2015 that Michael van Praag (NED), one of four candidates for the presidency of FIFA, is expected to announce the withdrawal of his candidacy. De Volkskrant also said that Michael van Praag and Luis Figo could hold a press conference in the Netherlands on 21/05/2015, to announce their withdrawal and their joint support for the candidacy of Ali Bin Al Hussein (JOR), the other candidate opposing Joseph Blatter, who is running for a fifth term as the head of the international body.
