Germany: foundation of the Women's Bundesliga by the 14 top flight clubs "without the DFB"

"On 10/12/2025, the 14 first division clubs in German women's football will found the Women's Bundesliga FBL e.V. (association). This will see the clubs in the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga jointly open a new chapter in the history of women's football in Germany," announced the clubs in a joint press release published on 04/12/2025.

"Over the past few months, the 14 clubs have jointly driven forward a unique process. Following the recent highly successful collaboration in the ”Geschäftsplan Frauen-Bundesliga Projekt GbR” (Women's Bundesliga Business Plan Project), this will culminate in the founding of the Women's Bundesliga FBL e.V., in which the clubs will organise themselves collectively with the clear aim of ensuring the modern, professional and sustainable development of the Women's Bundesliga and strengthening the commercial potential of professional women's football," said the clubs.
