Sky Bet Championship: Apollo Sports Capital (USA) becomes a minority shareholder in Wrexham AFC

Apollo Sports Capital (ASC), the global sports investment company of US private equity firm Apollo Global Management, has become a minority shareholder in Wrexham AFC (Sky Bet Championship), announced the two parties on 08/12/2025.

The investment "aligns with Wrexham AFC’s long-term growth strategy and Premier League aspirations," with majority shareholders Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, American actors and producers who have owned the club since September 2020, "continuing to oversee the club as controlling owners".

As part of the investment, Apollo Sports Capital will "also provide financing for the STōK Cae Ras, helping advance the ongoing redevelopment of the stadium, including the new Kop Stand." The club's stadium is named since the 2023-24 season after STōK Cold Brew Coffee, an American cold brew coffee distribution company.

This announcement comes one month after Apollo Sports Capital became the majority shareholder of Club Atlético de Madrid (LALIGA EA Sports) on 10/11/2025, in an agreement which "is expected to be completed in Q1 2026".
