Formula 1: a record average audience in the United States on ESPN in 2025 (1.3 million viewers)

The ESPN Group (The Walt Disney Company) has recorded an average audience of 1.3 million viewers for the 24 Formula 1 Grands Prix broadcast on its pay-TV channels ESPN and ESPN 2 pay-TV channels as well on its free-to-air channel ABC in the United States during the 2025 season, announced the American group on 10/12/2025.

The 2025 season has surpassed the previous record set in 2022, when the championship drew an average of 1.2 million viewers on the American group's channels. A total of 16 Grand Prix races set audience records on ESPN this season. "Over the past eight seasons since F1 returned to ESPN Networks in 2018, viewership increased from an average of 554,000 viewers per race in 2018 to 1.3 million in 2025, an increase of 135%," said the group.

This was the final year of ESPN's broadcasting contract with Formula One Group, with the Disney subsidiary having broadcast the F1 championship in the United States since 2018. The media rights for the competition in the United States have been acquired by Apple for the 2026-2030 cycle (see below).
