UEFA: Sony extends its partnership with the Champions League until 2017-18

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, a world leader in gaming consoles and video games, is extending its partnership with UEFA for the Champions League for three seasons (2015-16 to 2017-18), announced the two parties on 21/05/2015.

The global partnership with UEFA includes the 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions of the the European Super Cup, the final of the Women's Champions League and the semi-finals and finals of the UEFA Youth League until 2018. The agreement allows Sony to showcase its PlayStation brand as well as its Xperia mobile phones (through LED advertising boards, interview panels and more).

UEFA generated €328.5m in commercial revenues in 2013-14. The Champions League represents 82.5% of these revenues. Each partnership with the competition is estimated at between €30m and €40m per year. The automobile manufacturer Nissan has a contract giving it strong media visibility which is estimated at over €54m per year until 2017-18.
