FIA: Mohammed Ben Sulayem (UAE), sole candidate, re-elected president until 2029

Mohammed Ben Sulayem (UAE) has been re-elected president of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile at the body's general assembly held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), announced the FIA on 12/12/2025.

The former rally driver will serve his second term (2025-2029) after his first election in 2021. The Emirati, who was the sole candidate in 2025, was elected in 2021 with 61.62% of the votes against Graham Stoker (UK), becoming the first non-European president of the body since its creation in 1904. He succeeded Frenchman Jean Todt, who had been holding the position since 23/10/2009 and had served three terms, the maximum allowed under FIA regulations.

"The election was conducted in line with the FIA’s statutes through a robust and transparent voting process, reflecting the democratic foundations of the federation and the collective voice of its global membership," said the body.

The FIA's governance and voting rules were, however, questioned on several occasions in 2025, including:
