Launch of Ligue 1+, European Cups TV rights allocated until 2031... a look at media in 2025

The Ligue de Football Professionnel thought it had secured its domestic broadcasters for Ligue 1 McDonald's until 2029 after reaching an agreement with DAZN and beIN SPORTS France in August 2024. However, there have been many twists and turns since then, and LFP Media ultimately terminated its contract with DAZN before the end of the first season (2024-25).

Although beIN retained the TV rights to one game per matchday in 2025-26, the LFP had to come up with a new solution to broadcast the French top flight matches previously offered on the British streaming service. The Ligue 1+ platform, developed by LFP Media with Endeavor Streaming, was launched at the start of the 2025-26 season.

This new service, which now has over a million subscribers, is the main broadcasting channel for Ligue 1 (eight out of nine games live per matchday). It could also broadcast the entire French league exclusively from 2026-27 if the contract with beIN, which is the subject of numerous disputes and at the heart of a legal battle between the LFP and the Qatari group, was to be terminated at the end of the…
