"Right now the USOC is going through a similar vetting process to make sure Boston is the right city. So there’s no guarantee Boston will be the city in September," said Angela Ruggiero, a member of the USOC, on 19/05/2015. According to several US media outlets, if the candidature of Boston for the 2024 Olympic Games is withdrawn, the USOC could fall back on San Francisco or Los Angeles (California).

The city of Boston was selected as the US candidate city to host the Olympic Games 2024 on 08/01/2015. Boston, which has put itself forward to organise the Olympic Games from 19/07 to 04/08/2024, already presented an overall budget of €4bn, of which almost a third to be financed by sponsorship deals, on 21/01/2015.

Only 36% of Boston inhabitants expressed support of the hosting of the 2024 Games, according to a survey by the Think Tank MassINC for WBUR radio, published on 19/08/2015.
