LFP/2026 Trophée des Champions: live AI-powered commentary translation from French into Italian, a first

The 2026 Trophée des Champions, which will pit Paris Saint-Germain (2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's champion and 2024-25 Coupe de France Crédit Agricole winner) against Olympique de Marseille (2024-25 Ligue 1 McDonald's runner-up) at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait City (KWT) on 08/01/2026 (kick-off at 19:00 CET), will benefit from live AI-powered translation of commentary from French into Italian, announced the Ligue de Football Professionnel on 05/01/2026.

The match, broadcast on the Ligue 1+ streaming platform in Italy, will be the first in European football to feature AI-powered translation, according to the LFP. This initiative is part of a partnership between LFP and CAMB.AI, which began in 2025.

"Due to the automatically generated nature of the translation, the quality and consistency of the output may vary. The technology is still a work in progress, and viewers are encouraged to keep this in mind while viewing the stream," said the LFP.
