Serie A: Mediaset acquires additional content and archive rights for the 2015-2018 cycle

The Italian pay-TV group Mediaset Premium acquired Lot C of the 2015-2018 domestic audiovisual rights to the Serie A TIM, announced the Lega Serie A at the end of its regular meeting on 22/05/2015. Lot C gives exclusive access to the holder of the first interviews of players and coaches (before and after the game, at halftime and pitch-side), the dressing rooms, as well as tunnel access during live broadcasts of matches. The pay-TV group Sky Italia held this lot during the 2012-2015 cycle.

Lot C was part of the original tender launched by the Lega Serie A and its media adviser Infront Sports & Media on 19/05/2014, but was not awarded on 26/06/2014 due to lack of offers reaching the floor price (€67m on average per season from 2015 to 2018). The Italian league had decided to launch a direct negotiating procedure for remaining lots in July 2014. Mediaset was competing with Sky Italia to acquire Lot C. The acquisition price was not disclosed, but it is estimated to reach €10m over the entire 2015-2018 cycle, according to Italian media.
