Disney+/France: "To offer sports content at no extra cost to subscribers" (David Popineau)

"Sports is a logical extension of our strategy. In France, we currently only broadcast the UEFA Women's Champions League. But in other European countries, Disney+ also offers LALIGA EA Sports (in the UK), Europa League and Conference League matches (in Denmark and Sweden). We are looking at all opportunities and we are ambitious. However, our approach is to offer sports content at no extra cost to subscribers. The rights we acquire must be included in the basic subscription package with no additional fees," said David Popineau, lead Disney+ France within The Walt Disney Company group, to News Tank on 12/01/2026.

The streaming platform has made its first foray into sports streaming in France through a broader European agreement, acquiring the full media rights to the UEFA Women's Champions League over the 2025-2030 cycle. Disney+ is available from €6.99 per month in France.
