CAF: Samuel Eto'o (FECAFOOT) suspended for the four last matches of the AFCON 2025 and fined $20,000

Samuel Eto'o, president of FECAFOOT, has been imposed a stadium ban for the next four official CAF matches played in the context of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025," i.e. the semi-finals, the match for third place and the final of the competition, as well as a $20,000 fine after the CAF disciplinary board found him "guilty of violating the principles of sportsmanship set out in Article 2(3) of the CAF statutes and Article 82 of the CAF disciplinary code for his misconduct during the fixture between Morocco and Cameroon (2-0) in Rabat, on 09/01/2026," announced the Confédération Africaine de Football on 15/01/2026.

The body cited the Cameroonian's "misconduct" following his national team's defeat. The former Barcelona (LALIGA EA Sports) player is said to have made highly critical and vehement comments about the refereeing from the official stand from which he was watching the match.
