World Sevens Football: Claire Bloomfield (ex-EFC) appointed chief of football affairs & governance

Claire Bloomfield (GBR) has been appointed chief of football affairs & governance at World Sevens Football, an entity which organises a women's 7-a-side football competition, she announced on LinkedIn on 21/01/2026.

"It’s exciting to see a new property entering women’s football with a genuine commitment to innovation, and the ambition to truly deliver on it," said Claire Bloomfield, who served as head of women’s football at European Football Clubs (formerly ECA) between 2020 and 2025. During that period, she sat on the dedicated women’s football committees of both FIFA and UEFA.

World Sevens Football has already staged two events in 2025, both produced and distributed by DAZN:

• in Estoril (Portugal), from 21 to 23/05/2025, with total prize money of $5m (€4.6m), featuring European clubs (FC Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, AS Roma, Paris Saint-Germain, AFC Ajax, SL Benfica and Rosengård);

• in Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA), from 05 to 07/12/2025, with a similar prize money and teams from the Americas (two NWSL teams, two Mexican clubs, and one team each from Canada…
