Serie A 2015-16: real-time statistics, the fight against web piracy and international promotion

"We will start direct negotiations with interested parties for the sale of the international audiovisual rights to the TIM Cup and the Supercoppa TIM (Italian Super Cup) for the 2015-2018 period. It has also been agreed to establish of a video-tracking system from next season (2015-16), which will enable the collection of real-time statistics about matches, teams and players' performances," announced Maurizio Beretta, the president of the Lega Serie A, after the ordinary meeting of the Italian league on 22/05/2015.

"We have activated all renewal procedures for anti-piracy systems (for the audiovisual content of the Lega Serie A) both for television and for the Internet," said Maurizio Beretta. The Lega Serie A uses the services of English company Friend MTS and the Italian company Vidierre, which both use technology called 'fingerprinting' to monitor Internet streaming of the 380 Serie A TIM played each season, leading to the closure of 28,900 illegal sites in 2011-12 and 2012-13, stated the Italian league on 03/02/2014.
