FIFA: "Such misconduct has no place in football" (Joseph Blatter)

"Let me be clear: such misconduct has no place in football and we will ensure that those who engage in it are put out of the game," stated Joseph Blatter, the FIFA president, in a statement on the website of the international federation on 27/05/2015.

Eugenio Figueredo (Uruguay) and Jeffrey Webb (Cayman Islands), two of the eight vice-presidents of FIFA, and five other leaders of international football were arrested in Zurich (SUI) on 27/05/2015, following extradition requests made by United States, on the eve of the opening of the FIFA Congress (28 and 29/05/2015), in which the president of the international federation for the 2015-2019 period will be elected.

"The election of the president" is the item 17 on the agenda of the 65th FIFA Congress, scheduled on 28 and 20/05/2015.
