AFCON 2025 final: Senegal head coach suspended for 5 matches, FSF and FRMF fined $615,000 & $315,000

A suspension of five official CAF matches for head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw (also fined $100,000), two matches for two national team players (Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaïla Sarr) and three fines totalling $615,000: these are the sanctions imposed by CAF's disciplinary board on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) following the incidents that occurred during the Senegal-Morocco match (1-0 after extra time) in the final of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 played on 18/01/2026 in Rabat (MOR), announced the Confédération Africaine de Football on 28/01/2026.

The day after the match, CAF had condemned the "unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials", indicating that it would review "all footage" and refer the matter to competent bodies "for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty".
