AFCON 2025: "Deeply disappointed by the unacceptable incidents during the final" (P. Motsepe, CAF)

"I was deeply disappointed by the unacceptable incidents that occurred during the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025. I am absolutely determined, together with the CAF executive committee and the presidents of the CAF member associations, who represent 54 African countries, to maintain and advance the integrity, reputation and global competitiveness of African football and CAF competitions," said Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confédération Africaine de Football, on 30/01/2026.

"CAF condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the final of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 between Morocco and Senegal (1-0 after extra time), played in Rabat (MOR) on 18/01/2026," already reacted the African governing body the day after the final, on 19/01/2026.
