TV rights: $14.2bn spent by streaming platforms in 2026 including $3.8bn by Prime Video (Ampere Analysis)

Spending by streaming platforms on sports rights is expected to reach $14.2bn (€11.98bn) in 2026 (based on agreements signed at the time of publication), according to the study “The year in sport: six key trends for 2026,” published by British research firm Ampere Analysis in January 2026.

"Global investment in sports rights by streaming platforms continued to grow in 2025, rising from $11.3bn in 2024 to $13.2bn, driven by DAZN’s $1bn deal for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Excluding that competition from the 2025 total, projections for 2026 represent a 16% year-on-year increase, despite the fact that the two largest global events - the FIFA Men’s World Cup and the Winter Olympic Games - will be primarily broadcast on linear television in most markets," said Ampere Analysis.

Amazon, owner of the Prime Video streaming platform, is the largest investor in sports rights in 2026 (27%/$3.8bn), according to the study.
