Germany/DFB: record average revenues of €19.7m (+15%) for the 17 first teams in the 3.Liga in 2024-25

The 17 clubs whose first teams competed in the 3.Liga in 2024-25 recorded total revenues of €334.8m (up 14.8% on 2023-24, €291.61m), a record average of €19.7m, according to the Deutscher Fussball Bund, which is responsible for the competition, in its annual report dedicated to the 2024-25 financial year, published on 02/02/2026. The report does not take into account the reserve teams of Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart (Bundesliga) and Hannover 96 (2.Bundesliga), who competed in the 3.Liga in 2024-25.

Total expenditure by German third division teams also reached an all-time high of €348.7m, an average of €20.5m per club, including €109.4m (31.4% of the total) on wages and salaries (average of €6.4m per club).

Only five of the 17 clubs surveyed had negative equity, "the lowest level since the league was founded in 2008", while ten clubs ended the 2024-25 financial year with a positive net result.

The growth recorded by 3.Liga is also notable in terms of attendances, with "the four million spectator mark passed for the first time (4.39 million). The average attendance was 11,548 fans…
