Liga BBVA: UN Women visible on the back of shirt of Valencia CF in the European Cups until 2018-19

UN Women, the UN organisation dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, will be visible on the back of the shirt of Valencia CF (Liga BBVA) in European competitions for four seasons (2015-16 to 2018-19), announced the two parties at the headquarters of the UN in New York (USA) on 26/05/2015.

This is the first time in history that UN Women has entered into a partnership with a professional sports club. "This is a long-term commitment to really help make a difference to expand advocacy efforts towards gender equality. It’s not only a women’s issue, it’s a human rights issue that Valencia CF strongly believes in," stated Chan Layhoon, president of the board of directors of Valencia CF. "UN Women is dedicated to bringing more men and boys into the gender equality conversation," stated Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the under-secretary-general of the UN and UN Women executive director.
