FIFA: a record 5,973 international transfers during the 2026 winter transfer window, $1.95bn spent

Men's professional football clubs completed a record 5,973 international transfers during the 2026 winter transfer window (data from 01/01 to 03/02/2026), up 3% on the previous record set in 2025 (5,799), according to the "International Transfer Snapshot" report on the latest transfer market published by FIFA on 05/02/2026.

A total of $1.95bn (€1.65bn) was spent on transfer fees during the period, down 17.7% on the record set in 2025 ($2.37bn/€2.26bn).

English clubs lead the way in terms of spending, with a total of $363m (€307m). In terms of revenue generated, French clubs ($218m/€184m) top the table. Brazil was the country that recorded the most arrivals (456), while Argentina topped the list for outgoing transfers, with 228 departures.

Among the key numbers regarding women's football:
• 427 international transfers were made (compared with 454 in 2025);
• total payments reached $10.8m (€9.1m), an increase of 86% compared with 2025.
