Leicester City: a six-point deduction in Sky Bet Championship for breaching financial regulations

The English Football League Board has ratified and applied with immediate effect the recommendation of an independent Premier League Commission to impose a six-point deduction on Leicester City FC in the 2025-26 Sky Bet Championship table, announced the Premier League on 05/02/2026.

The decision sanctions the club for breaches of the EFL Profit and Sustainability Rules (P&S Rules) and for failing to submit its audited annual accounts by the relevant deadline for the assessment period ending at the close of the 2023-24 season. Following the club’s promotion to the Premier League in summer 2024, the EFL investigation was transferred to the Premier League, which was subsequently found to have jurisdiction by an Arbitration Tribunal, a decision contested by the club.

Under the applicable financial regulations, permitted losses are capped at £105m over the three-year period covering the 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.
