FSV Mainz 05: new lease agreement for the Mewa Arena with a purchase option for the club in 2036

1. FSV Mainz 05 (Bundesliga) and the City of Mainz have signed a new lease agreement for the Mewa Arena (33,305 capacity) "which provides a legally secure and binding framework for the economic conditions relating to the planned transfer of ownership of the stadium to the club," announced FSV Mainz on 06/02/2026.

The new lease, already approved by the City Council in November 2025, includes a "significantly reduced payment, taking into account the contributions already made by Mainz 05, and a notarially certified purchase option for the club in 2036". The Mewa Arena was inaugurated in July 2011.

Mewa, a German specialist textiles company, has extended as the title sponsor of FSV Mainz 05's stadium until 2031, announced the club on 19/04/2025. The stadium will thus retain the name "Mewa Arena". The group has held the naming rights to the stadium since 2021, under an agreement initially running until 2026 and valued at €2.3m per season.
