The Deutscher Fussball Bund has launched its new master plan for amateur football for the 2026-2029 period, it announced on 09/02/2026. This initiative is a continuation of the three previous master plans implemented during the 2013-2016, 2017-2019 and 2020-2025 cycles.

The implementation of this plan is mandatory for the 21 regional leagues, in accordance with the official vote of the DFB general assembly and the decision of its executive committee in 2025. Since 2013, the regional leagues have received financial support from both the DFB and the DFL.

"The DFB supports and promotes amateur football in cooperation with the (5) geographical associations and the (21) regional leagues. The master plan is the central instrument for achieving the overall objective of preserving a unique network of football clubs in Germany. The fact that the DFL is supporting this master plan is testament to the unity of German football," said Peter Frymuth, vice president responsible for competition organisation and football development at the DFB.
