Borussia Dortmund: opening of an academy in Accra (Ghana), the first in Africa

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) will open an academy in Accra (Ghana), in February 2026, announced the club on 09/02/2026. This will be BVB's first academy on the African continent.

The "BVB International Academy Ghana" will be operated in collaboration with Accra Shooting Stars FC at the Achimota School. It will welcome boys and girls aged 6-18, using the "BVB training methodology, with a strong emphasis on discipline, leadership, education, nutrition, and personal development".

This new Borussia Dortmund academy is part of its international academy network, which includes one in Mallorca (Spain), two in Trinidad and Tobago, seven in Mexico and 15 in the United States.

• Ibrahim Tanko, former Ghana international and Borussia Dortmund player, is the ambassador of this BVB academy in Ghana.
