UK: working group bringing together Leagues, FA, associations and police to tackle online abuse

The Premier League, the FA, the EFL, WSL Football, the PFA, Kick It Out (anti-racism association), the UK Football Policing Unit and Ofcom have formed a new working group aimed at strengthening the fight against online abuse and discrimination linked to football, on 19/02/2026.

The collaboration aims to:
• share insights and intelligence regarding online hate and abuse faced by people who play, watch or work in professional football;
• share insights and intelligence of abusive content to social media platforms;
• facilitate police investigations and legal proceedings where appropriate;
• contribute to the implementation of the Online Safety Act, including Ofcom’s policy work and user empowerment rules for platforms.

This new phase of cooperation is intended to "streamline collaboration" and further structure the collective response, combining platform regulation, law enforcement action and educational initiatives, within the framework of the ”No Room For Racism” campaign.
