FIFA: a strategic partnership with Donald Trump's Board of Peace to launch a recovery programme for Gaza

FIFA and the Board of Peace, an international organisation created on the initiative of US President Donald Trump in January 2026, have entered into a strategic partnership "to actively source investment from international leaders and institutions harnessing the power of football to support recovery, stability and long-term development in conflict-affected regions," announced the international federation on 19/02/2026.

As part of this agreement, which is expected to receive $75m (€63.6m) in funding, a recovery programme will be rolled out in Gaza (Palestine), where the war waged by Israel has caused the deaths of over 75,000 people (according to a study by the scientific journal Lancet published on 19/02) and the destruction of 99% of homes and 96% of land (according to the UN) since 07/10/2023.

In this context, FIFA and the Board of Peace have unveiled a four-stage plan "to build a complete football ecosystem" in Gaza:
• phase 1 (three to six months): installation of 50 FIFA Arena mini-pitches, distribution of equipment and structured grassroots activities;
