WSL Football: launch of ”Golden Paw”, a dog agility competition series featuring female players

WSL Football has launched ”Golden Paw”, a dog agility competition series in which "players from teams across the Barclays Women's Super League have joined forces with their furry companions," announced the commercial company responsible for the organisation of England's top two women's leagues (Barclays WSL and Barclays Women's Super League 2) on 20/02/2026.

The series "celebrates the animal-loving culture in the women’s game" and features players and their dogs "competing for the coveted Golden Paw trophy over an agility course which is specially designed to showcase teamwork and communication skills".

The inaugural episode aired on 20/02 on YouTube to coincide with ”Love Your Pet Day”. It features three players from Manchester United Women and was recorded at Carrington, the women's team training centre.

"Each episode is hosted by Ashleigh Butler - winner of Britain’s Got Talent with her dog Pudsey in 2012 - who has become a mainstay in the animal agility space, both competing and judging, over the past decade," said WSL Football.
