ICC/Israel-Palestine: complaint filed against the presidents of FIFA (G. Infantino) and UEFA (A. Ceferin)

Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, and Aleksander Ceferin, President of UEFA, have been accused of "of aiding and abetting war crimes" and "crimes against humanity in Palestinian territory" in a complaint filed on 16/02/2026 with the International Criminal Court (ICC) based in The Hague (NED) by five pro-Palestinian organisations (see list below), according to The Athletic, the sports media outlet of The New York Times, on 20/02/2026.

Both leaders of the international bodies stand are accused of "the inclusion of Israeli football clubs based in illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian territory that were built on land stolen from Palestinian people."

"FIFA and UEFA permit these clubs to play in leagues organised by the Israel Football Association and host matches on the seized land. They also provide financial and structural support to settlement clubs, some of which have played in the UEFA-organised competitions," said the plaintiffs, which are joined by a group of Palestinian footballers, Palestinian clubs, landowners and a Palestinian human rights organisation.
