FIFA/10 years of Infantino’s presidency: from the pitch to the Oval Office, a political role

“FIFA and the ”Peace Council” have signed an unprecedented partnership agreement aimed at actively mobilising funding to use football as a lever for reconstruction, stability and long-term development in regions affected by conflict," announced the international body following the inaugural meeting of the ”Peace Council” in Washington DC (USA) on 19/02/2026.

The ”Peace Council”? A new body created — and chaired — by Donald J. Trump, president of the United States, bringing together representatives from around 50 countries… and Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA.

The first of these "regions affected by conflict" is the Gaza Strip: "You’re going to build fields and bring in the biggest global stars, people who are bigger stars than you and me, Gianni. It’s really something important and, if I can, I’ll go there with you," declared Donald Trump, referring to his friend, whom he now calls only by his first name.
