Spain: report from the competition authority on the law for the collective sale of TV rights

The CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia), the Spanish competition authority, made public, on 28/05/2015, its report on the royal decree-law authorising the collective marketing of the audiovisual rights for Spanish professional football competitions. The report from the CNMC, ordered on 21/11/2014, was handed over to the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports on 10/12/2014.

"The CNMC made several observations in its report to promote competition and effective economic regulation to improve the rights of audiovisual marketing system. Some of these recommendations were not finally included in the royal decree 5/2015 of 30/04/2015 (see below)," stated the Spanish competition authority on 28/05/2015.

The Spanish government passed the decree-law that allows the collective sale of audiovisual rights to the Spanish professional football competitions (including those of the Liga BBVA and the Liga Adelante) on 30/04/2015.
