LALIGA EA Sports: acquisition of Club Atlético de Madrid by Apollo Sports Capital (USA) completed

The acquisition by Apollo Sports Capital, the sports investment arm of the US investment fund Apollo Global Management, of a majority stake in Club Atlético de Madrid (LALIGA EA Sports) has been completed, announced the two parties on 12/03/2026.

The club’s major shareholders - Miguel Ángel Gil (CEO), Enrique Cerezo (president), Quantum Pacific Group (QPM) and funds managed by Ares Management - had reached an agreement with Apollo Global Management on 10/11/2025, which was expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The two Spaniards retain their roles within the club.

QPM retains substantially all of its previously held stake and remains the second-largest shareholder, while Miguel Ángel Gil and Enrique Cerezo, as well as funds managed by Ares, remain shareholders, albeit with reduced stakes.
