2026 World Cup: two complaints filed at European level against FIFA’s ticketing policy

"Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and Euroconsumers (a European consumer organisation) have filed a formal complaint with the European Commission against FIFA, alleging that the football body has abused its monopoly position to impose excessive ticket prices and opaque and unfair purchasing conditions and processes on European fans ahead of the 2026 World Cup," the two organisations announced on 24/03/2026.

FSE and Euroconsumers claim to have identified "six specific abuses" (see list below), including "sky-high prices, higher than previous editions and higher than FIFA’s own estimate" and "bait advertising, the $60 ticket that barely existed."

"Football Supporters Europe is astonished by the extortionate ticket prices imposed by FIFA on the most dedicated supporters for next year’s FIFA World Cup. If a supporter were to follow their team from the first match to the final through a PMA allocation, it would cost them a minimum of $6,900 (€5,870) - nearly five times as much as during the FIFA WC 2022 in Qatar," FSE declared on 11/12/2025.
