"We are currently blocking 30,000 IP addresses a day, a growing number that can be attributed to peer-to-peer activity, whilst IPTV accounts for around 9,000 of these blocked IP addresses," Javier Tebas, president of LALIGA, declared on 23/03/2026.

The Spaniard came to present "the inspiring example of the fight against piracy in Spain" during a morning session dedicated to tackling the piracy of sports content, organised by the APPS (Association for the Protection of Sports Programmes) in partnership with News Tank at the Roland-Garros Tenniseum (Paris, FRA).

"LALIGA invests €12m per year into combating piracy. We need tools to tackle this problem. What's more, the IPTV services we block don't just broadcast our content: they also have the Premier League, Ligue 1, Netflix, HBO, Formula 1, and so on. All this content goes down when the service gets blocked. It is therefore a really useful tool," Javier Tebas explainded, adding that he devotes "60% of (his) working days" to this issue, mainly through a dedicated department within LALIGA comprising "more than 25 employees" and placed…
