Movistar Plus+: internal reorganisation to "respond to the new reality of the audiovisual market"

Telefonica has launched an internal reorganisation for its pay-TV group Movistar Plus+ to "respond to the new reality of the audiovisual market," the Spanish telecommunications operator announced on 27/03/2026.

As part of this move, the sports rights acquisition and global partnerships departments are being integrated into a new business and sports division, led by Enric Rojas. He will also retain his role as director of sports at Movistar Plus+, a position he has held since April 2023.

"Major international partners - such as Amazon, Apple, DAZN, The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros. Discovery - now operate as multi-product players, with whom negotiations cover fiction content, OTT agreements and sports rights simultaneously. Moving to an integrated model strengthens the company’s strategic position and maximises its negotiating capacity," Telefonica explained.
